A hackathon on two continents for solving Sustainable Development Goals, 31.3.–2.4.2023
A hackathon is a fast-paced event, where participants team up to create solutions and concepts from scratch in a short amount of time, addressing current problems. Hackathons vary in length and type and are centered around a specific theme.
Solve the SDGs focuses on sparking solutions to tackle the challenges to reach the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. This year’s theme is working together for a better future. The event will be held from 31 March to 2 April, simultaneously on the two continents of Europe and Africa.
Solve the SDGs is organized together with Junction and Aalto Ventures Program. The event is open to all participants and brings together an international group of students, alumni, and mentors to work on challenges related to the SDGs regardless of prior hacking experiences.
This year, Solve the SDGs is organized simultaneously in Finland, Uganda, and Tanzania, enabling intercontinental collaboration and new perspectives to familiar challenges. The event has 412 participants from Finland, 152 from Tanzania, and 72 from Uganda. This activity is related to the EDUCase platform cooperation.
